Make no mistake about it this fall. CBS lost Everybody Loves Raymond and it may
hurt—at first, at least. Still, the network has lined up a series of quality
shows and maybe even some hidden treasures that should yield great results as
the fall schedule moves in. Most notably, Two and a Half Men will be slotted in
the time originally saved for Raymond. The recent success of the show over the
past few seasons should allow CBS to maintain a hold on that time and should
usher in some new fans to the comedy about 2 guys and a son. That’s not all CBS
has to offer though.

Monday nights in primetime continue to be one of the strongest nights of the
week for CBS. King of Queens returns for another season with even more laughs
promised, while the debut series How I Met Your Mother adopts the flashback
technique and could be a success story for the network. Out of Practice rounds
out the night. Another strong night for the network should be Wednesdays where
the return of Yes, Dear and Still Standing mark more opportunities for CBS to
bank off of the success of past hits. CSI: Miami and CSI: New York also anchor
Monday and Wednesday nights, respectively, in the 10PM timeslot.

Reality shows continue to be the name of the game for the CBS network though, as
Survivor returns for yet another season, this time based in Guatemala. The
Amazing Race also returns with another exciting season for fans of that
particular series. Overall, CBS may still miss Everybody Loves Raymond, but the
otherwise familiar schedule should stand the test of another season. A few
comedies and a drama-heavy lineup seems to be the norm for CBS anyway though.
And that’s one norm that shouldn’t be mistaken for anything except another
successful fall season.
