From MTV’s Video Music Awards to the Grammy and Emmy Awards and even just to the
plush streets of Hollywood, celebrities in 2005 have caught the hearts and
minds of the American public. Isn’t it crazy? Supermarket tabloids used to be
devoted to “the baby with 2 heads” or “the end of the world,” but now people
just cannot get enough of Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey, Angelina Jolie and
Brad Pitt, and, of course, Jennifer Aniston! Celebrities in 2005 have
catapulted from adored stars literally into extended parts of my peoples’ lives
in the country. People just cannot get enough.

While the Simpson/Lachey and Jolie/Pitt relationships may be causing the biggest
waves in the country, the celebrity onslaught is not restricted to just
couples. Who can get enough of Paris Hilton’s nightly partying and daily
quotes? Entire segments of talk shows are devoted to the hotel heiress who has
already caused quite a story with the hacking of her T-Mobile cell phone
earlier this year. Her engagement and the FOX television show, The Simple Life,
also have cast her out into the spotlight. No matter where you turn, whether it
be TV, radio, or print, celebrities in 2005 are everywhere!

Many celebrities in 2006, fortunately for the American public, are repeat
offenders from past years. The nation was captivated when Demi Moore and Ashton
Kutcher linked up in 2004. Now, over a year later, the public still cannot get
enough of their love affair. Jennifer Aniston may be American’s biggest
sweetheart and most talked-about celebrity in 2005 though. Following a year in
which her and Brad Pitt headed for Splitsville and Pitt was spotted vacationing
with Angelina Jolie, Aniston’s story and public reaction has been
well-documented in 2005. Despite an already overwhelming amount of celebrity
coverage in 2005, do not expect the trend to stop anytime soon. With new
celebrity magazines popping up everywhere in 2006, you are bound to get to know
even more celebrities this year.
