It’s been said many times, but it’s true: sex sells. Since Hollywood is built as a shrine to the all powerful American Dollar, sex is a big part of makes Hollywood tick. The only constant is that there is always an executive looking for a new sexy celebrity to sell his product, make his movie, or star in his television series.

In show-business, there are really only two ways to sell using the “sex sells” theory. You can do it with your writing, by writing a steamy television show or movie. The easier way, though, is sort of through the back door and away from censors: you can simply get a sexy celebrity to star in it, appear in it, or back it. Just get a sexy celebrity involved however you can.

Obviously, not every show or movie has the budget or backing to land a sexy celebrity. There is a solution, but it is a bit of a gamble. Create a sexy celebrity. There is always the chance you will strike gold and introduce the world to the next Angelina Jolie, Katie Holmes, or Jennifer Aniston. The problem is that you could introduce someone who doesn’t catch on as a sexy celebrity and flop. For a low budget production, though, the gamble is definitely worth it.

So, you have chosen a new actor or actress that seems to fit the “sexy celebrity” bill. How do you know if it’s working? There are certainly signs. Is he or she appearing regularly in tabloids? Does it make entertainment news when your new sexy celebrity changes hair styles? Do you see him or her either shopping with or dating Paris Hilton? If you can answer yes to these questions, then you have a sexy celebrity on your show. If you have a sexy celebrity on your show, then you likely have a hit on your hands.
